About Us
Burleigh Community College is the first community college in the East Midlands to be registered with the National Inspection Council for Electrical Installation Contracting (NICEIC) as an approved training centre. The college is able to provide the Domestic Installer Scheme Qualification (DISQ) under Part P of the Building Regulations.
In order for electrical installers to self-certify that their domestic electrical installation work in England and Wales is compliant with the Building Regulations, they must be registered with a competent person scheme, such as the NICEIC Domestic Installer Scheme. All applicants to the NICEIC Domestic Installer Scheme must meet a number of requirements. In particular, they must be able to demonstrate they have the ability to install, inspect, test and certify their work in accordance with BS7671 and to comply with the relevant Building Regulations.
The DISQ is a five-day programme comprising of training and assessment, to meet all the needs of the competent person scheme.
The emphasis of the qualification is on understanding regulations, standards and terminology, and gaining the ability to identify unsafe electrical situations and perform electrical test procedures. Knowledge and appreciation of the relevant requirements of other appropriate Building Regulations is also covered during the course.
The college has entered into a partnership with East Midlands Technical Training. The technical director Barry Martin has had over 30 years' experience of training and will be involved in the running of these courses.
